Introduction
Hello and Welcome to the Hill Raiford Bullard Family Web Site! This site is an ongoing project to trace our roots and we need your information. Send any additions, corrections, dates, photos, birth, death and wedding announcements to me at the address below.

The Hill, Raiford, Bullard Family Reunion started in 1967 in Dayton, Ohio.  Since this summer marks the 50th Anniversary, the HRB Family will commemorate its multi-generational heritage in Chesapeake, Virginia.  This golden celebration is being coordinated by the four regional chapter clubs which comprise HRB:  Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, and East Coast.

Three years after the Civil Rights Act was signed into law and when 45,000 soldiers departed for Vietnam, founders of the Hill, Raiford, Bullard Family Reunion (Glenna Ross and Aker P. Raiford) were collaborating on the inaugural, annual gathering of descendants of Walter and Sylvia Hill (buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Tignall, GA. ).  Although the country was still dealing with racial tension amid separate but equal doctrine that boldly recognized differences, the Hill Raiford Bullard Family worked faithfully to unite and give appreciation for God’s beautiful blessings.

Rooted in Christian faith and strong work ethics stemming from slave parents, Walter and Sylvia Hill’s union bore ten children whose offspring would later be compelled to reunite the family each year, specifically on the first weekend in August.  Mamie, Emma, Welborn, Lula Belle, Harp, Aker, Jesse, Plato, Starkie, and Lawyer "Reese"  produced an honorable gene pool of hereditary character in individuals who became highly respected homemakers, service laborers, civil rights activists, real-estate agents, government employees, law enforcement and military officers,  educators, office managers, business owners,  religious leaders, skilled technicians, firemen, authors, innovative engineers, professional athletes, psychologists, doctors, lawyers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, and much more.  Regardless of their own differences, they were all united by a belief in God and a continuing tradition of giving thanks for their blessings.  In the words of the Late Glenna Ross, “We are one family, one love.”
