Mrs. Minnie Mae White, 89, beloved daughter of the late
Charlie Barksdale and Ada Downer Barksdale, was born on
November 20, 1918, in Elberton, Georgia. She entered into
rest on Monday, June 9, 2008 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
She was baptized at an early age at Springfield Baptist
Church where she was a faithful member for many years.
Mrs. White loved to sing and was known for her comical and
“to the point” poems read during church programs.
Mrs. White was twice married. She was married to the
late K.C. Land and the late Sam White, Jr.
Mrs. White was a retired food service worker. She
worked in the Elbert County School System for 23 years.
Mrs. White was a Christian, a loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by all
who knew her. She was preceded in death by one
granddaughter, Miss Sharon Denise Dodson.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Mrs.
Doris Thompson (Walter), Miss Angela P. White, Elberton,
GA and Ms. Sharon Land, Jacksonville, FL; three sons, Mr.
Ezell Land, Mr. Daniel L. White (Phyllis) and Mr. William A.
White, Elberton, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Ree
Benson, Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Inez White, Elberton, GA and Mrs.
Estelle White, Detroit, MI; five granddaughters; six greatgrandchildren
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
